Meditation,
simply put, is aligning Mind, Body and Spirit, so that these
three components function as one. Meditating is the practice of
quieting the mind of all its chatter as to be open to the thoughts of
the universe. One can meditate on a given topic, such as a spiritual
principle, a personal problem or whatever maybe requires further
clarification or answering.
I am going to
teach you the “1 – 2 – 3 – 4” Method of meditation. In time
you will require no technique at all and you will enter into a
meditative state any time and any place you choose. It is best to
meditate in the morning before you start your day and in the evening
before retiring. You may want to purchase a “count down” timer and
set it for 30 minutes as you may lose track of time when meditating.
As the name
implies “1 – 2 – 3 – 4” Method is to say to yourself, in your
mind, “1 – 2 – 3 – 4” over and over again. The purpose of this
is to focus your mind on the counting and away from the chatter that
is constantly with us in our mind. Also, as you are counting take and
release some deep cleansing breaths. There is no right way or wrong
way to perform this meditation. Do what you feel is comfortable and
natural for you. There is no need for stress or strain.
